Information About the Growth Factor Facelift Procedure with New York’s Best Facelift Surgeon, Dr. Andrew Jacono.
Growth factor facelift is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation process that does not involve surgery at all. Growth Factor Face Lifting has been one of the most cutting-edge techniques in plastic surgery in the past 30 years. Over this time multiple facelifting procedures have been utilized for rejuvenation of the face. Most of them stress the need for extensive surgery.
Growth Factor Facelift This growth factor / fat transfer facelift patient of Dr. Andrew Jacono discusses her procedure and how happy she is with her results.
Plastic surgeons understand aging includes deflation and loss of natural volume in cheeks, jawline, and under eyes. This creates shadows and depressions like flat cheeks, marionette lines, chin shadowing, and under-eye dark circles.
As upper face volume decreases, the heart-shaped face transitions into a square, bottom-heavy shape along the jawline.
The procedure is based on the regenerative properties of cells in the body called growth factors. These growth factors are some of the most important cells in the body. They have the ability to replace damaged and worn-out cells. Growth factors are found naturally in fat tissues known as adipose. These factors are present in fat tissue and aid in facial rejuvenation when transplanted.
This allows for more volume in the face and skin. Which helps to improve the quality and texture of the skin. The new volume helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Using transplanted growth factors with fat transfer increases the survival rate of the newly produced tissue, offering significant advantages. The Growth Factor Facelift is a procedure that utilizes your own body tissue to replenish and rejuvenate these areas. Growth factors live in our body fat and are called Adult Derived Growth Factors.
The Growth Factor Face Lift differs from traditional fat grafting. Fat is processed post-removal to maximize Adult Growth Factors in transplanted fat.
During this growth factor facelift procedure fat is suctioned from the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. It is then purified to maximize the number of Adult Derived Growth Factors that exist in the fat. Blood is then drawn from the patient and is processed to create a growth factor that’s rich in growth hormones. Those are then added to the fat already rich in growth factors.
Adding this helps maximize the efficacy of the procedure. This mixture of growth factors, fat, and hormones is transferred back into deflated areas of the face. Such as drooping cheeks and jawline. The fat cells and the growth factors are transplanted into the face using a multi-planer technique.
A first layer is transplanted at the bone level of the mid-face. Then a second layer of cells is transplanted into the muscles and tissues of the face. A third and final layer is then added just below the surface of the skin. This is done to help regenerate all the aging components.
This tissue scaffolding helps support the areas of the jawline and midface lifting them to a more youthful position.
Additionally, we now know that Adult Growth Factors are known to be a source for producing other growth factors once placed in the face. This enhances both skin quality and texture smoothness and helps diminish wrinkles. Not only does the procedure restore the youthful contour and shape of the face, but because of this effect improves skin tightness.
After the cells, have been transplanted, Dr. Jacono completes the growth factor facelift by performing a chemical peel on the surface of the skin to help remove fine lines and wrinkles. The chemical peel also helps to stimulate the underlying growth factors and collagen to help the skin look healthy and wrinkle-free.
In cases of more severe aging, for example with a dropping neck (often called a turkey neck), the Growth Factor Facelift can be combined with other minimally invasive surgical procedures. For example, for patients with an aged neck, the procedure can be easily combined with a neck lift performed with small incisions behind the ears. These incisions can be minimized using endoscopic technology (telescopes the size of a drinking straw) so that there are no telltale signs of surgery.
Combining a lower neck lift with a Growth Factor Facelift can prevent the distorted and stretched appearance of facelifts of years past.
Many patients are worried about having any plastic surgery procedure, even smaller ones such as these because they do not want to have general anesthesia. The good news is plastic surgery can be performed without general anesthesia. It is common in today’s plastic surgery practice to use local anesthesia (just numbing injections like novocaine at the dentist).
After administering a light sedative pill, the injections are administered with a series of injections using an extremely fine needle to numb the area. The added benefit is that it results in a quicker recovery and also reduces the cost of having a procedure.
Depending on the severity of the aging process as well as the tailored procedures that Dr. Jacono creates for each patient, recovery time can vary. On average, most patients fully recover within 7 to 10 days. During the recovery period, patients may experience some mild swelling and redness to the skin very similar to sunburn. Eventually, the surface of the skin will shed and the skin will have a light pink coloring to it. When fully recovered, the skin will show dramatic improvements in both color and skin quality.
Most patients will continue to see improved results in their skin texture and quality over the next 12 months.
Patients who are looking for facial rejuvenation without surgery might be good candidates for this procedure. It is best suited for patients who are showing moderate signs of aging and are generally in good health. During a consultation with Dr. Jacono, he will discuss your options based on each patient’s individual goals.
